About this role

The U.S. Embassy in Dar es Salaam, part of the U.S. Mission Tanzania, is hiring a Logistician for its Engineering Security Office (ESO). This full-time, non-supervisory position is based in Dar es Salaam and supports technical security operations across the region.

The logistician manages the ESO inventory, supply chain, procurement, and inventory reconciliation of technical systems and equipment, providing logistical support to Security Engineering Officers, Security Technical Specialists, and other teams. Duties include ordering, shipping, receiving, and warehousing tools and materials, coordinating travel and budgets, reviewing requisition orders, and managing procurement actions. The post also oversees logistics data in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and the Integrated Logistics Management System (ILMS), prepares asset and purchase forms, and conducts annual inventory reconciliations for Diplomatic Security property and Technical Surveillance Countermeasures equipment, which may require climbing ladders and working in confined or dirty spaces. Additional responsibilities include administrative studies to improve regional logistics, coordination with the embassy's management sections, and year-end purchasing and budget reconciliation.

The position ensures regional logistics operations meet the standards of the Engineering Security Center, the Regional Director for Security Engineering, and the U.S. Department of State. Candidates must be U.S. Citizen Eligible Family Members (USEFMs) and able to obtain a Top Secret security clearance; the vacancy is graded FP-7.

The U.S. Mission Tanzania works within the U.S. Department of State's diplomatic security framework. Working conditions include a permanent appointment definite not to exceed five years, a 40-hour workweek, and occasional travel to regional posts, potentially including danger pay posts.
