Communications & Advocacy
Graphic Designer, Child Nutrition Programme
About this role
UNICEF Tanzania is recruiting an individual consultant, open to international and national candidates, to provide graphic design, report layout and communication materials development services for its Child Nutrition and Development Section. The section supports programmes improving the nutrition, health, well-being and development of adolescent girls, women and children across Mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar, and the assignment strengthens documentation of programme results, evidence and lessons learned. The consultant will design and lay out knowledge management products such as reports, guidelines, policy briefs, case studies, bulletins and learning materials, and develop visual communication products including infographics, banners and other advocacy and visibility materials for print and digital platforms. A central task is translating complex technical content, programme data, research findings and human-interest stories into clear, engaging visual formats for diverse audiences.
Specific CND deliverables include quarterly bulletins, nutrition investment case materials, food-systems communication products, MIYCN guidelines and early childhood development materials. All outputs must comply with UNICEF branding and visual identity guidelines, editorial standards, accessibility requirements and donor visibility obligations. Candidates must hold a bachelor's degree in graphic design, visual communications, communications or another relevant technical field, and have at least three years of experience designing creative, high-quality communication and advocacy materials across print and digital formats, preferably for UN agencies, NGOs or international organisations. Advanced skills in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects) and other design, layout and animation software are required, along with the ability to turn advocacy objectives into compelling visual concepts.
Fluency in English is mandatory. Desirable qualifications include prior work with UNICEF Tanzania, experience with another UN agency, a strong multi-format portfolio, and demonstrated design work on nutrition and food systems. The engagement is an individual consultancy; the posting does not state a duty station, travel expectations or reporting line. Applications go through the UNICEF careers portal, and no closing date is specified.
