ICT Intern/Volunteer

Amref Health Africa is recruiting an ICT Intern or Volunteer for its Dar es Salaam country office in Tanzania, on an internship contract. The placement is designed as a bridge between study and the workplace, giving a young IT professional hands-on exposure to the technology function of Africa's largest African-based international health development organisation while supporting the day-to-day ICT needs of the office. Working under the guidance of the Head of ICT, the intern will run the user support help desk across telephone, email and other communication channels, logging every technical fault reported and the action taken to resolve it. The post-holder will carry out basic hardware, software and network troubleshooting, monitor system performance and diagnose faults as they arise.

Duties also include configuring and testing ICT equipment and networks, covering hardware, peripherals and software, to confirm efficient performance and appropriate settings. The intern will undertake basic computer maintenance, repair and upgrades, install and test Amref standard software on new equipment as it arrives, and assist end users with routine IT assignments such as software updates. Additional tasks include basic PC housekeeping such as virus scanning and updates, auditing ICT equipment, and helping staff set up meetings and conferences with projectors and laptops. Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree in Information Communication Technology or computer science and have at least six months of working experience.
