About this role
Raising The Village is recruiting a Data Analyst to join its Venn department, the data and technology backbone of the organisation, based in Bukoba, Tanzania. The post-holder supports the collection, management, analysis and reporting of high-quality data that informs decision-making, improves programme performance and measures outcomes and impact across RTV's work to eradicate ultra-poverty in Sub-Saharan Africa. Day to day, the Data Analyst analyses and interprets quantitative and qualitative data to generate actionable insights, identifying trends, patterns and key drivers of performance and translating findings into clear recommendations for technical and non-technical audiences. The role supports the design and implementation of evaluations, assessments, surveys and research, contributing to evaluation methodologies, sampling approaches and analytical frameworks, and helps measure programme outcomes and impact.
The analyst also develops and maintains dashboards, visualisations and reporting products, prepares analytical reports and presentations, and supports the design of data collection methodologies and instruments. Additional duties include managing the data lifecycle, cleaning, validating and storing data, implementing quality assurance processes, supporting data governance and resolving data quality issues. Candidates must hold a bachelor's degree in statistics, economics, quantitative economics, data science or another related quantitative discipline, and have at least three years of experience in data management, analytics, monitoring and evaluation, or research. Proficiency in R, Python, advanced STATA or MS Excel is required, along with experience using visualisation tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Looker Studio or Shiny.
A strong understanding of data management, quality assurance and analytical workflows is essential, as is familiarity with experimental and quasi-experimental evaluation methods. A postgraduate qualification in monitoring and evaluation, statistics, economics, data science or project planning and management is an added advantage. This is a full-time position reporting to the Senior Data Analyst, with up to 30 percent travel required. RTV encourages applications from women, people with disabilities and minority groups, and applications are submitted through the organisation's recruitment portal.
