HIV Clinical Services Officer

Amref Health Africa

About this role

Amref Health Africa is recruiting an HIV Clinical Services Officer based in Dar es Salaam. Amref Health Africa Tanzania is a non-profit public health organisation that has supported the Government of Tanzania since 1987 on maternal and child health, HIV, TB, malaria and nutrition. The position sits within Afya Thabiti, a PEPFAR-funded HIV care and treatment project run through CDC Tanzania in Mara, Simiyu, Zanzibar and Dar es Salaam. The officer strengthens the HIV treatment cascade from case identification and ART initiation through adherence and retention to viral suppression, in line with national guidelines and the 95-95-95 goals.

Work includes supporting comprehensive HIV/AIDS care, integrating Advanced HIV Disease services, CD4 testing and screening for hypertension, diabetes, hepatitis and mental health, and giving providers technical oversight on differentiated service delivery models such as same-day ART initiation and multi-month dispensing. The officer works with Council Health Management Teams, facility and community case identification officers, peer navigators and retention officers to enrol newly diagnosed clients, trace those lost to follow-up and strengthen community engagement. Duties also cover provider capacity building, clinical outcome monitoring, data quality assessments and periodic reporting to the HIV Clinical Services Advisor. Applicants must hold a Doctor of Medicine degree; a Master's in Public Health is an added advantage.

At least four years of experience in HIV/AIDS clinical care and treatment, preferably in a PEPFAR-supported programme, is required, along with proven work with regional and council health management teams and demonstrated data analysis skills. Preferred strengths include expertise in ART management and differentiated service delivery, mentorship and leadership, proficiency in Microsoft Office, familiarity with CTC2 and DHIS2, and fluency in English and Swahili. The post is full-time, with interviews held at Amref's Dar es Salaam offices. Applicants should submit a single document combining an application letter and CV, stating their current position and three referees.
