The Head of AU Liaison Office role sits within the African Continental Free Trade Area Secretariat, which is headquartered in Accra, Ghana. The position is a full-time appointment based at the Secretariat's duty station in Accra, with the primary mandate of managing and strengthening the institutional relationship between the AfCFTA Secretariat and the African Union Commission, its subsidiary organs, and other continental bodies. Core responsibilities include representing the Secretary-General in relevant AU forums, coordinating policy positions and submissions across AU ministerial and technical processes, facilitating information sharing and alignment between AfCFTA workstreams and AU frameworks, and providing strategic advice on matters of mutual interest to both institutions. The role requires managing a small liaison team, preparing briefings and reports for senior leadership, and ensuring that the AfCFTA's operational and legal instruments are appropriately integrated into broader African Union programming.

Candidates are expected to hold an advanced university degree in international relations, law, economics, trade, political science, or a closely related discipline, with a minimum of seven to ten years of progressive professional experience in multilateral institutions, government, or regional organisations. Familiarity with the African Union's governance architecture, the AfCFTA Agreement, and its operational instruments is strongly preferred. Previous experience in a liaison, diplomatic, or representational capacity is highly valued.
