Field Interns

SNV

About this role

SNV Netherlands Development Organisation (SNV) is seeking three Field Interns for its NOURISH Tanzania project operating in Songwe and Rukwa regions. NOURISH Tanzania is a five-year initiative focused on achieving resilient food security and improving nutrition for smallholder farmer households in Tanzania's Southern Highlands, working within a broader SNV portfolio spanning climate-smart agriculture, landscape conservation, renewable energy, and water, sanitation and hygiene. The Field Intern will support project implementation at community level, working closely with farmers, local leaders, extension officers, and other stakeholders in the target areas. Core responsibilities include mobilising community groups and farmers to participate in training sessions, demonstrations, and field activities, as well as supporting the establishment and technical follow-up of demonstration plots and farmer learning interventions.

The intern will promote climate-smart agricultural practices, horticulture activities, and nutrition-sensitive approaches, while assisting in the development of Village Savings and Lending Associations and facilitating linkages to financial services, input markets, and output markets. The role also involves collecting field data using approved tools, entering and maintaining records in project databases, supporting basic data cleaning and analysis, and contributing to internal reports, beneficiary records, and routine documentation. Candidates must hold a diploma or bachelor's degree in general agriculture, crop science, horticulture, nutrition, community development, or a related field, with one to two years of relevant experience in community engagement, farmer mobilisation, and basic extension support. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and digital data entry tools is essential, along with fluency in written and spoken English and Kiswahili.

The internship is a one-year placement (with possibility of renewal) based in Songwe and Rukwa, Tanzania, with extensive field travel to remote rural communities. Compensation follows SNV Tanzania's internship rates. Applications will be accepted through Smart Recruiters until 20th June 2026.
