About this Role

Senior local position providing portfolio-wide strategic and technical leadership for IUCN Tanzania Coastal and Ocean Resilience programme spanning MPAs, mangroves, fisheries governance, marine pollution, and blue economy development across four seascapes including Tanga-Pemba, Unguja North, Unguja South, and Mtwara. Candidates must hold an advanced university degree in environmental or climate studies plus minimum ten years complex project management experience in livelihood diversification, nature-based solutions, and market systems development. The role is critically important for Tanzania contribution to the Great Blue Wall, the WIO region initiative to conserve 30 percent of the ocean by 2030. Responsibilities span portfolio coordination, adaptive management, performance monitoring, business development, fundraising, stakeholder engagement with government ministries, and knowledge management. Senior conservation professionals with deep blue economy networks in Tanzania are the target applicants. Fixed-term contract up to 24 months from 1 May 2026.
