Community Data Collector (CDC) — Tanzania
ICAP at Columbia University
About this Role
ICAP at Columbia University seeks Community Data Collectors to conduct high-quality, ethical, and safe community-based data collection within assigned districts as part of a multi-country research initiative on climate, extreme weather, mental health, well-being, violence, and localized early warning systems in Tanzania. Key requirements include proficiency in English, data collection experience, and the ability to conduct ethical community-level research; Swahili fluency is essential for community engagement. The role is relevant to Tanzania's development sector as it builds local research capacity in an emerging area — climate-health linkages and mental health — that is increasingly recognised as critical to resilience programming. Core responsibilities include community-based data collection, field reporting to the Field Supervisor, and adherence to ethical and safety protocols. The ideal candidate is a community-oriented field researcher with experience in public health or social science data collection and strong interpersonal skills. This is a temporary part-time position contingent on funding and ethics approvals.
