Enumerator (Roster)
About this role
The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) is seeking to establish a roster of enumerators to support quantitative and qualitative data collection for food security assessments and monitoring surveys across Tanzania. WFP is the world's largest humanitarian organization fighting hunger, and in Tanzania it implements a five-year Country Strategic Plan (2022–2027) aimed at supporting the government to deliver equitable and inclusive economic growth through investments in human capital, resilient livelihoods, and nutritious diets. The enumerators will be deployed across duty stations in Arusha, Dodoma, Kasulu, Mtwara, and Zanzibar to conduct household interviews, traders' interviews in designated markets, focus group discussions, and key informant interviews. Successful candidates will record accurate results using digital data collection equipment such as tablets, maintain detailed records of all data collected, and submit findings in a timely manner via WFP's Mobile Operational Data Acquisition (MODA) platform.
Under the general supervision of WFP RAM officers or consultants, enumerators will participate in training on approved data collection tools, meet agreed daily sample targets, and provide feedback to guide the summarization of field findings. The role requires completion of secondary school education with a post-secondary certificate in a related functional area being desirable. Fluency in both oral and written English and Swahili is mandatory, and candidates must demonstrate sound interview skills including the ability to build rapport with respondents, probe effectively, and communicate findings clearly to team leads. Familiarity with WFP interventions in Tanzania and prior experience using tablets or smartphones for digital data collection are additional advantages.
This is a casual labour engagement with a duration of not more than 15 to 30 days, offering an opportunity to contribute to humanitarian work while gaining experience with a Nobel Peace Prize-winning organization that provides an inclusive, diverse, and multicultural working environment. Applications must be submitted through WFP's official recruitment portal by 17 July 2026.
