About this Role
UNECA is recruiting a Country Lead for the RESIslands Initiative in Tanzania and Zanzibar to serve as the in-country focal point for climate resilience programming, overseeing project activities and ensuring alignment with national priorities. Candidates must hold an advanced degree in climate science or environmental policy with minimum five years experience in climate resilience or project coordination including donor-funded projects and government collaboration. The RESIslands Initiative addresses climate vulnerability in small island and coastal communities, a high priority for Zanzibar which faces acute risks from sea-level rise, coral bleaching, and extreme weather events. Key responsibilities include organizing workshops, providing technical support, monitoring progress, managing knowledge products, and coordinating with government institutions and international partners. Full-time consultancy of six months duration requiring professional exclusivity. Deadline 16 April 2026.
