Deputy Team Leader, GBV Prevention Program
About this role
Global Communities is recruiting a Deputy Team Leader to lead the Programs strand of the anticipated Community-Based Social Norms Change and Gender-Based Violence Prevention Program in mainland Tanzania. The position is contingent upon award and donor approval, with an anticipated start date of February 2027. The post-holder will plan, deliver and assure the quality of all Programs strand activities and supervise the National GBV Program Officers, reporting progress and risks to the Team Leader. They will lead development of the adapted Bandebereho curriculum and facilitators' manual in English and Kiswahili, integrating culturally adapted session content, case studies, role plays and safeguarding principles.
The role oversees pilot implementation support, designs fidelity tools such as facilitator observation checklists and adaptation logs, and runs the pilot learning cycle with reflection sessions. The Deputy Team Leader also organises a national validation workshop with at least 60 stakeholders, leads scale-up planning for 15 councils, and deputises for the Team Leader. Required qualifications include a Master's degree in Gender Studies, Social Sciences or Development Studies, and at least eight years managing GBV prevention or community-based programs in Tanzania. Candidates must show experience adapting gender-transformative or social norms change curricula, designing fidelity and adaptive learning systems, working with MoCDGWSG, PMO-RALG and Local Government Authorities, and knowledge of national GBV frameworks such as WCPCs.
World Bank or other donor-funded project experience and excellent English and Kiswahili are essential, while familiarity with Bandebereho, Program P, SASA! or EMAP models is a strong advantage. The program forms part of the World Bank and Government of Tanzania Project for Advancing Gender Equality, known as PAMOJA. The engagement covers 18 months within a 24-month period from February 2027 to February 2029, with a duty station in Dodoma and frequent travel to implementation districts.
No salary details or application deadline are stated; Global Communities applies strict safeguarding standards and conducts robust background screening.
