The World Health Organization Country Office in Tanzania is seeking a Data Management Officer to operate WHO data management and monitoring and evaluation activities, providing evidence-driven information to support the country in ensuring availability of quality, timely, and complete health emergency information and risk assessment data, while monitoring achievement of recommended performance indicators. The incumbent will support the collection, analysis, production, and dissemination of data and information across multiple health programme areas, and will aggregate and maintain inter-country information from WHO and partners, including contact lists, performance monitoring, health indicator data, health situation data, and health response data. A core responsibility involves participating in basic geographic analysis for maps and other reports such as dashboards and situation reports. The post holder will, upon delegation, facilitate information sharing between institutions and contribute to inter-sectoral dashboards and reports, and will participate in field surveys including mortality and vaccination coverage surveys as needed.

The Data Management Officer will provide information management input into planning and data processes, covering data gathering and analysis, quality assurance, performance monitoring, information dissemination, and management. The role requires demonstrated skills in information management, data analysis, and statistics, including the ability to design, manage, and analyse complex information system projects, computer-based applications, databases, and web-based tools. Advanced proficiency in MS Office, particularly spreadsheets, data visualisation, and database management is essential. Knowledge of health programmes and the functioning of the UN system is an asset.
