The Country Office Management Accountant position based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania plays a critical role in providing high-quality financial management, compliance oversight, financial analysis, and business partnering support to ensure effective stewardship of donor and organisational resources. The post-holder reports directly to the Finance Manager, Input and Control, and works closely with Programme, Grants, Procurement, People and Culture, and Project Finance teams.

Core responsibilities include leading financial monitoring, budgeting, forecasting, cost recovery, statutory compliance, partner financial management, and reporting processes while ensuring adherence to Plan International policies, donor regulations, and Government of Tanzania requirements. The role coordinates month-end and year-end financial closure processes, balance sheet reconciliations, payroll accounting, intercompany transactions, and statutory compliance activities, while supporting data-driven decision-making through financial analysis, budget variance analysis, forecasting, and development of management reports and dashboards. The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent qualification with a minimum of five years of experience in NGO and grant management. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, advanced Excel and Power BI or reporting skills, and excellent communication abilities appropriate to diverse audiences are essential.

The ability to work under harsh conditions and in multidisciplinary and multicultural environments, along with proficiency in relevant accounting packages, is desirable. The role is a full-time position based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, within the Middle East, Eastern and Southern Africa region. Regular travel to project locations and partner offices for monitoring, capacity building, compliance reviews, and financial verification exercises is expected. The post-holder is responsible for strengthening financial controls, risk management practices, and compliance frameworks across Country Office operations and partner organisations.
