The Accounts and Grants Assistant role is based at the Country Office in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, and reports directly to the Finance Manager Input and Control. The position is graded at Level 12 and supports effective financial management by ensuring accurate financial recording, timely reconciliations, compliance with Plan International policies, donor regulations and statutory requirements.
The role contributes to strong internal controls, financial reporting, audit readiness, cash management and data integrity to support efficient programme delivery and organisational accountability. Core responsibilities include maintaining financial records, reconciliations and supporting documentation in SAP and other financial reporting systems, supporting monthly, quarterly and annual financial close processes, supporting audit preparedness and timely resolution of audit findings, and maintaining custody of petty cash, financial documents and other sensitive financial instruments. The position also supports financial data quality and reporting accuracy for management decision making. Required qualifications include a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related field with a minimum of two years of relevant experience in finance and accounting, preferably within an NGO or donor funded environment.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills, proficiency with accounting packages, excellent communication skills and good English language skills both oral and written are essential. Basic Power BI or reporting exposure is an added advantage. Candidates must demonstrate ability to work under harsh conditions and in multidisciplinary and multicultural environments.
