Cashew Value Chain Field Technical Coordinator

About this role

SNV is recruiting a field technical coordinator to lead the technical side of the Cashew Value Chain Improvement Project, Phase II, in Tandahimba and Nanyamba Districts in Mtwara Region, Tanzania. The project follows an earlier phase and aims to improve livelihoods of smallholder cashew farmers, with a strong focus on youth and women, through sustainable farming practices, enhanced youth and female engagement, and stronger AMCO governance with Rainforest Alliance certification. It will directly benefit about 2,000 people. The coordinator will organise and supervise extension-led training, ensure consistent technical support, and monitor adoption of good agricultural practices, climate smart agriculture, and post-harvest management.

Duties include planning and coordinating Training of Trainers sessions for ward and village extension officers, developing schedules, mobilising participants, preparing activity budgets, and providing on-site coaching to farmers and extension staff. The position also involves maintaining relationships with district authorities, extension services, the Tanzania Agriculture Research Institute, certification bodies, AMCOs, and partners, representing the project in technical meetings, and contributing to monitoring and learning through field visits, monthly reports, attendance records, and success stories. Candidates need a bachelor's degree in agriculture, agronomy, agribusiness, rural development or a related field and at least two years of experience in the cashew value chain with knowledge of Tanzania's agriculture sector. Fluency in English and Kiswahili and computer literacy are required.
