Africa Resource Mobilisation and Partnership Manager
About this role
HelpAge International is recruiting an Africa Resource Mobilisation and Partnerships Manager to lead fundraising and partnership development for the Africa Ageing Conference, a flagship biennial continental platform on ageing-inclusive development. The position sits in the Network Development Team within the Global Impact Directorate and reports to the Regional Adviser, Africa, with oversight from the Fundraising and Strategic Partnerships Team. The postholder will lead day-to-day opportunity development, donor cultivation and partnership engagement for the conference, building a prioritised pipeline of funding, sponsorship and in-kind opportunities with clear ownership, status and next steps. They will develop investment propositions, concept notes, proposals, sponsorship packages and pitch materials with technical, finance and communications colleagues, progressing opportunities from research through to stewardship.
The role also involves representing HelpAge in approved external engagements, supporting funder stewardship around the event, and maintaining accurate records and regular pipeline reporting. A further workstream contributes to wider resource mobilisation for priorities emerging from the Africa Plan and the Africa Coordination Mechanism. Candidates should hold a degree in international development, fundraising, business development or a related field, or equivalent professional experience, alongside substantial experience in fundraising, strategic partnerships, business development, sponsorship or donor engagement in an international or regional context. Demonstrable pipeline management, prospect research, proposal writing and confidence engaging senior external stakeholders are essential, as is fluency in English.
Desirable additions include knowledge of African Union, Regional Economic Community or United Nations structures, experience securing support from institutional donors or foundations in Africa, familiarity with ageing, social protection or inclusive development, and French, Portuguese or Arabic language skills. This is a Grade D, fixed-term 12-month appointment with scope to extend subject to funding, based in Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania or Zimbabwe, with a preference for Ethiopia or East Africa. Applications, comprising a cover letter and CV, should be sent to jobs@helpage.org no later than 23 September 2026.
