AKU is a private, autonomous and self-governing international university with 13 teaching sites across six countries and three continents, and it forms part of the Aga Khan Development Network. The successful candidate will provide quality assurance support for the programmes offered under CELL, ensuring that they meet the requisite quality standards, and will work closely with IED, East Africa faculty and other CELL beneficiaries. Day to day, the post-holder will lead certificate courses, providing academic leadership, planning, teaching and evaluating courses while mentoring the teaching team.
The coordinator will independently design, plan and teach CELL courses within their area of specialisation, and will disseminate and integrate research findings into those courses. The role also involves conducting independent research studies, co-writing research proposals to secure internal or external grants, designing instruments, collecting and compiling data, and preparing reports. The coordinator is expected to co-author papers in refereed journals and present findings at national and international conferences, while also offering consultancy to organisations within their field. On the quality side, the coordinator maintains and oversees quality assurance for CELL programmes in collaboration with respective deans, ensures appropriate assessment mechanisms are in place, and oversees monitoring and evaluation of IED's outreach programme.
The role includes identifying and recommending teaching faculty in consultation with the Associate Deans and Dean, IED-East Africa, and serving on AKU-IED and university-wide committees, providing leadership in local professional associations and pursuing continuing professional development. The coordinator reports regularly to the Dean, IED-East Africa. The source does not detail specific academic credentials, years of experience or separate desirable qualifications, nor does it mention compensation or benefits. Applications go through the AKU careers portal; no closing date is stated.
