About this Role

This local position coordinates field-level implementation of the Bahari Mali II Project under IUCN Coastal and Ocean Resilience Programme, supporting the Great Blue Wall initiative for marine and coastal biodiversity in Zanzibar Unguja Island seascapes. A Bachelor degree in fisheries, aquaculture, environmental or social sciences is required along with minimum five years field experience in fisheries or aquaculture and community development. The role advances community stewardship of ocean resources and blue economy development in line with Tanzania national policies. Key duties include coordinating annual workplans, supervising coastal enterprises, organizing workshops, managing field consultants, and maintaining stakeholder relationships with district councils. Ideal for conservation or rural development professionals with fluency in Kiswahili and English willing to travel frequently within Tanzania. Fixed-term contract of up to 11 months starting 1 May 2026.
