Tanzania Branch Manager, Used Car Sales

About this role

eco-R, a Japanese vehicle recycling and used-car sales company, is recruiting a resident managerial staff member for its Tanzania branch to lead used-car sales promotion and branch operations. The post-holder will manage used-car sales, handle import and registration procedures, and develop markets in Tanzania and neighbouring countries. The person will negotiate with local banks and oversee the overall operations of SP JAPAN LIMITED, the Tanzanian company responsible for used-car sales and bonded-yard operations. The branch receives roughly 30 to 50 high-quality used vehicles each month from Japanese suppliers, including shareholder eco-R co., ltd., and the role supports the company's goal of providing economical, high-quality vehicles while contributing to local community development and a sustainable future.

The position is full-time and based in Oyster Bay, Dar es Salaam. Working hours are 08:30 to 17:30 with a one-hour break, although break times may shift to suit customer service. Overtime averages about 40 hours per month. The workweek follows Sunday and public holidays, alternate Saturdays, New Year holidays, and the company's monthly calendar.

The contract starts from 1 December 2026, with flexibility and preference for an earlier start. A three-month probation period applies. Applicants should have business-level English. Experience in vehicle maintenance or vehicle sales, whether in Tanzania or Japan, is preferred, and Swahili ability is an advantage.

A degree is not required, nor is a specific number of years of similar experience. The employer welcomes university and graduate students, former JICA volunteers, new graduates, and experienced professionals without prior international cooperation work. Monthly base pay is 3,000,000 to 3,500,000 Tanzanian shillings, with a 10 percent reduction during probation. An annual performance-related bonus and promotion opportunities are available, and no insurance is provided.
