Branch Manager, Used Car Sales

About this role

eco-R co., Ltd., a Japanese vehicle recycling and used-car trading company based in Ashikaga, Tochigi, is recruiting a resident manager for its Tanzania branch, SP JAPAN LIMITED, the subsidiary that runs used-car sales and a bonded yard in Dar es Salaam. Day-to-day work covers used-car sales and customer negotiations alongside oversight of the sales operation, import clearance and vehicle registration procedures, and market development inside Tanzania and in neighbouring countries. The manager also negotiates with local banks and takes responsibility for the overall running of SP JAPAN LIMITED, including supervision of local staff. Roughly 30 to 50 high-quality used vehicles arrive each month from Japanese suppliers, including the parent company.

No university degree and no fixed number of years of similar experience are required. Business-level English is mandatory and Swahili ability is an advantage. Candidates with vehicle maintenance or vehicle sales experience, whether gained in Japan or locally, are preferred. Former JICA volunteers, new graduates and professionals with no prior international cooperation experience are all explicitly welcomed.

eco-R has traded used vehicles and parts with about 50 countries and frames the Tanzanian venture around supplying affordable, high-quality cars while contributing to sustainable development and local employment. The appointment is full-time regular staff, employed locally in Tanzania, starting from 1 December 2026 with flexibility for an earlier start. The duty station is Oyster Bay, Dar es Salaam, with hours of 08:30 to 17:30, alternate Saturdays off and average overtime of about 40 hours a month. Monthly base pay is 3,000,000 to 3,500,000 Tanzanian shillings, reduced by 10 percent during a three-month probation, with a performance-based bonus and no insurance cover.
