Website Developer (Online Volunteer)
About this role
Learn to Serve Community of Tanzania (LESCOTA) is seeking two dedicated online volunteers to develop a new charity website for the organization. LESCOTA is a community-based organization with a mission to support rural children in reaching their full potential through multiple programmes including food and nutrition education, parent workshops, school construction and maintenance, childcare, health care, and English language tutoring. The volunteers will be responsible for building the website from concept through to completion, fashioning everything from the home page to site layout and functionality. The website will feature several pages to navigate and must be accessible, mobile-first in design, with engaging content and secure hosting.
The goal is to put all school information and programme updates online for parents and guardians to access easily. The organization requires applicants with skills and knowledge in website design, qualified IT personnel with hands-on experience in coding and innovative design. Preferred qualifications include basic knowledge of search engine optimization, hands-on experience with network diagnostic and analytics tools, and a solid understanding of how web applications work including security, session management, and best development practices. This United Nations Volunteers assignment is hosted by LESCOTA and will be conducted entirely online, allowing volunteers to work flexibly from any location.
The website will serve as a central hub for sharing information about the organization programmes and connecting with the community. Interested individuals with the required skills and experience are invited to apply through the United Nations Volunteers portal. The assignment offers an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to rural education and child welfare in Tanzania while gaining international volunteer experience.
