About this role

The World Food Programme (WFP) is seeking an IT Assistant to support the delivery of efficient and effective Information Technology and Telecommunications (TC) services at its Tanzania country office in Dar es Salaam. This full-time position sits within the TEC (Technology and Communications) division and operates under the overall guidance of the Head of TEC. The role focuses on ensuring that WFP staff can effectively deliver food assistance to beneficiaries across Tanzania through reliable technology infrastructure and support services. Core responsibilities include managing and tracking all TEC support requests and incidents in the helpdesk system, classifying issues appropriately, updating ticket records with troubleshooting steps, escalating unresolved problems, and following up to ensure timely resolution.

The IT Assistant provides first-line technical support to staff, troubleshooting issues with personal computers, printers, Wi-Fi connectivity, and Microsoft Office 365 applications. Additional duties encompass supporting conference room technology setups including Microsoft Teams conferencing, assisting with the onboarding and offboarding of staff regarding their technology needs, installing and configuring TEC equipment, and supporting network-related issues covering local area networks, wireless connectivity, and virtual private networks. The role also involves providing remote TEC support to WFP sub-offices in Kigoma, Arusha, and Mtwara, as well as preparing and dispatching TEC equipment to these locations. The ideal candidate holds a university degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or another relevant field, demonstrates client-oriented service delivery, strong teamwork, adaptability, and integrity, and possesses a basic understanding of hardware, networking, and operating systems with proficiency in Office 365 and good communication skills.

Fluency in English is required.
