Regional Technical Officer, TB Services

FHI 360

About this role

FHI 360 is recruiting a Regional Technical Officer for tuberculosis services, based in Iringa within the EpiC Project. The post-holder provides technical expertise supporting scale-up of comprehensive TB prevention, screening, diagnosis and treatment, emphasising integration of TB and HIV services across Police and Prison health facilities and stronger public facility services so that cases are detected early and treatment completed. Day to day, the officer supports regional technical teams, health facilities and community platforms in planning, implementing, monitoring and scaling up TB interventions. This covers quality screening, active case finding, diagnosis, treatment, TB preventive treatment, drug-resistant TB management and infection prevention and control in line with national standards.

The role involves mentoring, coaching, supportive supervision, on-the-job training and clinical case reviews to build health worker capacity, plus routine review of programme data on screening, case notification, treatment outcomes and TB/HIV indicators to identify gaps and recommend corrective action. The officer also supports facility improvement plans and data quality checks. A medical or nursing degree from a recognised institution is required, and a master's degree in public health is an advantage. Candidates need at least four years of progressive experience in TB and TB/HIV programming, preferably within donor-funded public health programmes, and demonstrated experience providing technical assistance to government health authorities, regional and council health management teams and implementing partners.

Fluency in English and Kiswahili plus proficiency with Microsoft Office are expected. The officer reports to the Regional Senior Technical Officer for Clinical Services and works with the Ministry of Health, the Police Medical Unit, the Prisons Health and Nutrition Unit and PMO-RALG. It is a full-time post with 10 to 25 percent domestic travel to councils and health facilities. The annual basic salary range is TZS 52,000,000 to 65,000,000.

Applications close on 31 October 2026 and are submitted online via the FHI 360 career portal.
