Regional Technical Officer, PMTCT
About this role
FHI 360 is recruiting a Regional Technical Officer for Prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission (PMTCT) for the EpiC Project in Tanzania, based in Njombe. The position provides technical expertise and field-level support for PMTCT, HIV-exposed infants and pediatric HIV, and cervical cancer prevention services across supported regions, councils, and health facilities. The post-holder will support the planning, implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of PMTCT and Cervical Cancer Prevention (CECAP) interventions. This includes guiding facility and community teams on triple elimination of mother-to-child transmission of HIV, syphilis, and hepatitis B, in line with national guidelines and global recommendations.
The officer will strengthen cervical cancer service delivery, screening quality, referral and linkage systems, and client tracking to minimise loss to follow-up. Monitoring key PMTCT and CECAP indicators, analysing trends, and following up corrective actions are central duties. The role also involves mentorship, coaching, supportive supervision, and on-the-job training for regional teams and health workers, plus technical reports and lessons learned for government, donor, and stakeholder audiences. Candidates must hold a Doctor of Medicine or Nursing degree, or another health-related qualification, with current professional registration where applicable, and have at least four years of progressive experience in PMTCT, pediatric HIV, maternal and child health, or HIV prevention, care, and treatment programmes, preferably donor-funded.
A master's degree in public health is an added advantage. Proven work with regional and council health management teams and implementing partners is required, alongside fluency in English and Kiswahili and strong analytical and stakeholder engagement skills. This is a full-time position reporting to the Regional Senior Technical Officer for Care and Treatment Services, with mentoring responsibilities for junior staff and 10 to 25 percent domestic travel. FHI 360 offers an annual basic salary range of TZS 52,000,000 to 65,000,000 plus a competitive benefits package.
Applications, including a letter, CV, certificates, and three referees, are submitted online by 31 October 2026.
