Programme Officer, Project Finance and Structuring
About this role
AUDA-NEPAD, the African Union Development Agency, is seeking a Programme Officer for Project Finance and Structuring to provide specialist financial structuring, project finance and transaction-advisory expertise across all components of the Infrastructure, Climate and Digital Specialised Monitoring and Coordination project. Working within the Project Management Unit and reporting to the Head of the Infrastructure and Transport Unit, the incumbent will lead the financial structuring and bankability work that turns the project infrastructure, energy, digital and Special Economic Zones packages into investment-ready, financeable transactions. Core responsibilities include conducting financial modelling, capital structuring and risk allocation; mobilising financing from development finance institutions such as the World Bank, AfDB, Islamic Development Bank and regional DFIs; and engaging commercial and private investors to support blended and syndicated financing for large infrastructure programmes. The role also involves supporting public-private partnerships, transaction preparation, financing negotiations and private sector participation in continental development projects.
Candidates must hold a Master’s degree in Finance, Project Finance, Accounting or Economics with at least two years of progressive experience in project finance, financial structuring, infrastructure finance or transaction advisory, or alternatively a Bachelor’s degree with four years of such experience. Project Management certification is an advantage. Familiarity with enterprise risk management, fraud prevention, AML/CFT compliance and applicable accounting standards including IFRS, SYSCOHADA and IPSAS is expected. AUDA-NEPAD serves as the African Union’s strategic development agency mandated to spearhead the implementation of Agenda 2063 and the Sustainable Development Goals across Africa’s continental priorities.
The position is based in Midrand, South Africa, and is a full-time appointment. 88 per annum and a gratuity of 15% of gross salary, consistent with rules for internationally recruited AU staff. Applications must be received no later than 27 July 2026.
