Climate
Programme and Coordination Support, UNRCO-UNEP
About this role
The United Nations Resident Coordinator's Office (UNRCO), with UNEP Tanzania, is recruiting a Programme Assistant (National) to support the UNRCO-UNEP team and a Technical Consultant leading behavioural science, narrative mapping and communication framework work. The assignment supports climate action in Tanzania. It runs for 12 weeks in three phases. In the first phase, the Assistant will compile information on Government institutions, UN entities, development partners, CSOs, community networks and other climate-action stakeholders, support coordination of stakeholder information and consultations, prepare contact lists and meeting materials, and provide local contextual inputs on policies, programmes and institutional arrangements.
During the second phase, the post-holder will support scheduling, coordination and documentation of consultations, interviews, meetings and validation activities, follow up on information and feedback requested by the Technical Consultant and UNRCO-UNEP team, and help validate findings and communication approaches for the Tanzanian setting. In the final phase, the role focuses on maintaining programme documentation, consultation records, stakeholder inputs and action points, supporting knowledge-sharing and capacity-building activities, and compiling outstanding actions, contacts, reference materials and coordination notes for handover. The assignment is remote. Candidates must hold a diploma or bachelor's degree in development studies, environmental studies, social sciences, public administration, international development, project management, business administration or a closely related field.
They should have experience supporting programme coordination, stakeholder engagement, information gathering, meeting documentation or administrative follow-up in a development, UN, Government, CSO or related setting, plus strong organisational, communication and English writing skills. Experience with consultations, workshops, communications or development programmes is an asset. Strong familiarity with Tanzania's institutional and development context is highly desirable, and fluent Kiswahili is required. UNRCO coordinates a 23-agency UN Country Team, while UNEP provides environmental and climate technical engagement.
The source does not state a closing date; it notes only that this is a United Nations Volunteers assignment hosted by UNRCO in Tanzania.
