Investment Officer, Infrastructure
About this role
The International Finance Corporation, a member of the World Bank Group, is recruiting an Investment Officer for Infrastructure to join its Africa Infrastructure department. The position sits within a team that originates, executes, and supervises investments across energy, transport, digital, oil and gas, mining, and municipal and environmental infrastructure. Based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, the post covers infrastructure sectors across Eastern Africa and carries a significant equity focus, with the successful candidate reporting to the Regional Industry Manager, Infrastructure, Eastern Africa. The day-to-day work centres on sourcing and assessing investment opportunities, identifying bankable projects, and preparing decision materials for investment committees and internal approvals.
The officer will originate, evaluate, structure, negotiate, and close complex debt and equity transactions, and will lead transaction execution to ensure agreed requirements are completed on time and to the required standard. The role also involves managing portfolio projects, restructurings, capital increases, equity sales, and development-results reporting. The post-holder will coordinate closely with environmental, social, legal, and technical colleagues, develop sector, country, and client strategies that build a robust infrastructure investment pipeline, and collaborate across World Bank Group institutions while representing IFC externally and mentoring less-experienced colleagues. The source does not set out a separate list of academic credentials, years of experience, or preferred qualifications.
It emphasises transaction leadership, equity investment experience, portfolio management, and the ability to work across disciplines and institutions. The assignment is a full-time contract based in Dar es Salaam. No salary, benefits, or travel entitlements are stated. IFC describes itself as a global development institution with operations across 145 countries and more than 182 offices, and notes that it committed $105.6 billion in fiscal year 2026 to private companies and financial institutions in developing countries.
Applications close on 2 November 2026.
