Finance Intern
About this role
Jaza Energy is seeking a Finance Intern to support its accounts receivable function in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, as part of an internship contract. The organisation builds solar-powered shops where customers charge batteries for household energy, and it reports more than four million battery swaps since 2022, reaching roughly 225,000 people with clean, affordable power. The intern will manage all aspects of accounts receivable, including invoicing, collections and reconciliation, while helping to ensure timely client payment and accurate financial records. Day-to-day work includes generating invoices for smartphone sales, collecting and reconciling cash, and monitoring accounts together with hubs and shops to identify non-compliance concerns.
The intern will update internal systems with daily cash collections, follow up on customer payments, and correct revenue allocation. The position also involves preparing and analysing accounts receivable aging reports, assisting with month-end and year-end closing, and keeping client information accurate and current. The intern will collaborate with sales and customer service teams to resolve payment discrepancies and will ensure that all related standard operating procedures are followed. Applicants should hold a Bachelor of Accounting or Banking and Finance, with zero to two years of experience in accounts receivable or a similar financial role.
A strong understanding of accounting principles is required, alongside proficiency in accounting software and the Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel. Jaza Energy also seeks excellent communication and interpersonal skills, strong organisational and time management abilities, close attention to detail and accuracy, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. The internship is based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, and sits within Jaza Energy's finance function, supporting a business that combines solar technology, community employment and women-led service delivery. Applications close on 20 November 2026, and candidates should apply through Jaza Energy's process before that date.
