EnergyADDED 05 OCTNO DEADLINE SPECIFIED

Hub Manager, Solar Energy

Jaza Energy

About this role

Jaza Energy is recruiting a Hub Manager to lead a cohort of solar-powered battery swap shops in Tanzania, combining entrepreneurial sales drive with disciplined operational management. The contract post is based in Mwanza and covers hubs in Shinyanga and Simiyu. Jaza Energy builds solar-powered shops that charge batteries for household use, and since 2022 it has completed more than four million battery swaps, giving roughly 225,000 people access to clean, affordable energy. Women from each community, known as Jaza Stars, run the service.

Day to day, the Hub Manager drives customer acquisition through door-to-door initiatives and local sales strategies, working toward a target of 150 active customers per hub, and maximises monthly recurring revenue and average revenue per user by improving retention, reducing churn, and shifting users to membership models. Operational duties include enforcing Brilliant Basics standards across every hub, achieving full compliance with inventory protocols, and controlling lost or missing pack metrics. The manager also owns the lifecycle of Jaza Star management, from recruitment through coaching in sales, customer service, and technical inventory management. Reporting duties include owning hub profitability metrics, attending Hypercare meetings with action plans, and flagging operational dilemmas to the Regional Coordinator.

Candidates should hold a bachelor's degree in sales, renewable energy, business administration, marketing, or a related discipline, with three to six years of experience in sales-driven roles, customer relations, or entrepreneurship and a proven record of managing teams. Jaza Energy expects demonstrated ability to train and coach diverse teams and foster high performance and behavioural compliance. The role requires data-driven decision-making, a quick grasp of new concepts, proficiency with digital tools, excellent interpersonal communication, and proactive problem-solving. A genuine passion for increasing energy access and economic employment for women in Tanzania is essential, as is willingness to relocate.
