About this role
Compassion International seeks a Grants Financial Specialist III for a fixed-term, grant-funded position based in Arusha, Tanzania, approved for a one-year period. The specialist facilitates financial and compliance oversight of mid- to large-scale grants with broad scope and impact, frequently involving government and multilateral donors. It operates with significant autonomy in budgeting, reporting, risk analysis, and compliance, ensuring donor and organizational policy adherence while advising programme leadership. The role also supports vendor screening against U.S. and EU excluded parties lists, coordinates with external auditors during donor audits, prepares audit schedules, and handles financial aspects of procurement audits. Additional duties include developing limited budgets, assisting global and national offices with forecasting and performance monitoring, training programme staff on donor financial requirements, and possibly mentoring junior specialists.
Required qualifications include a bachelor's degree in a related field and certification from a nationally or internationally recognized organization in a related field, with equivalent education, training, or certification potentially substituted. Compassion International is a Christian child-focused ministry, and the role requires a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, a consistent Christian witness, and commitment to child protection and conduct standards. The position is full time in a standard office environment, with sitting, standing, or walking for up to eight hours daily and travel of up to 10 percent of the normal schedule. Compensation and benefits are not stated, and the application procedure and closing date are not specified.
