About this role
IOM is seeking a qualified Driver to support its Country Office operations in Kigoma, Tanzania. Established in 1951, IOM is a Related Organization of the United Nations and the leading UN agency in the field of migration. Working closely with governmental, intergovernmental, and non-governmental partners, IOM promotes humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all, saving lives and protecting people on the move while driving solutions to displacement and facilitating pathways for regular migration. Under the general supervision of the Resource Management Officer and the direct supervision of the Admin and Finance Assistant, the Driver is responsible for transporting staff, officials, and other personnel, as well as cargo, goods, equipment, and documents across the duty station and surrounding areas.
The incumbent will collect and deliver mail, messages, and other items, ensure the proper maintenance and upkeep of assigned vehicles, and maintain accurate vehicle logs and records. The role requires completion of secondary school education or an equivalent qualification, along with a valid national or international driving licence for the relevant vehicle type. A minimum of two years of professional driving experience, preferably with an international organisation or non-governmental agency, is required. Since the inception of IOM in 1951, Movement Operations have been and continue to be a fundamental pillar of the Organisation's work.
The organized movement of persons in need of international migration assistance is a primary mandate of IOM, and Movement Operations Units in various Country Offices are coordinated under the Resettlement and Movement Management Division at IOM's Geneva Headquarters. The position is based in Kigoma, Tanzania, on a full-time basis. Applications are welcome from internal and external candidates and must be submitted through the IOM online portal by 27 June 2026.
