About this role

The British High Commission in Dar es Salaam is seeking a Partnerships and Investment Lead to drive UK investment into Tanzania across critical minerals, clean energy, financial services, and infrastructure. The role sits within the Sustainable Prosperity Team and reports directly to the Economic Advisor. This is a senior executive officer position on a fixed-term contract commencing 1 December 2026, with potential for renewal, and carries a monthly salary of TZS 8,077,708. The post holder will be responsible for establishing and maintaining a strong stakeholder network across the Government of Tanzania, UK businesses, and international financial institutions, with a particular focus on building a pipeline of investment opportunities from prospective UK exporters and investors.

They will support existing and prospective UK interests in Tanzania's critical minerals sector, including mining firms, UK financing expertise, and related infrastructure, while maintaining relationships with development finance institutions to understand major project pipelines and UK involvement potential through UKEF and other mechanisms. A core duty involves leading delivery of the Mutual Prosperity Partnership, the UK's bilateral MOU with Tanzania, including the ambitious FDI outcome goal, government dialogue platforms, and coordination of six-monthly technical meetings and annual ministerial dialogue. The successful candidate will need at least five years of experience in the private sector or government supporting private sector engagement, deep knowledge of the Tanzanian market and East African trade dynamics, and proven expertise in deal origination through to closure across public and private investment. Essential qualifications include a degree in business, economics, management, finance, or a related field, along with demonstrable experience in energy, minerals, and infrastructure financing including PPPs, sovereign bonds, and blended finance instruments.
