MEL Lead, Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning
About this role
Raising The Village is recruiting a MEL Lead for its Tanzania programme in Bukoba. The position leads planning, coordination, implementation and continuous improvement of monitoring, evaluation and learning activities for the Tanzania programme and serves as the primary MEL focal point in the country. The post holder reports to the MEL Manager and works with Tanzania leadership, programme and field teams, and Raising The Village's central MEL, Analytics and Data Integrity functions. Core responsibilities include preparing annual and quarterly MEL workplans, coordinating monitoring, assessments, surveys, evaluations and outcome tracking, and ensuring timely data collection, cleaning, analysis and use.
The MEL Lead maintains indicator tracking and reporting structures, prepares dashboards and periodic reports, and documents lessons and evidence from programme implementation. The role coordinates MEL review meetings, monitors performance against targets, liaises with central MEL and analytics colleagues, and ensures compliance with data quality and reporting standards. The MEL Lead also supports data quality assessments, spot checks and verification, and strengthens staff capacity through coaching, learning sessions and data review meetings. Candidates should hold a bachelor's degree in monitoring and evaluation, statistics, economics, public health, development studies, social sciences or a related field, with a master's degree preferred.
At least five years of progressive MEL experience in development, NGO, research or social impact settings is required, including country-level MEL systems, reporting cycles, data quality processes and performance tracking. Practical skills in quantitative and qualitative methods, visualisation and tools such as STATA, R, Python, Excel, Kobo or ODK, DHIS2 or Power BI are expected. Fluency in English is required and Swahili is strongly preferred. Experience with Tanzanian government systems or community programmes is an advantage.
This is a full-time position with up to 40 percent in-country travel and occasional regional travel. Applications are submitted through Raising The Village's online recruitment portal, and no closing date is stated in the source.
