About this role
The Southern African Development Community (SADC) is recruiting for two regional positions at its Secretariat in Gaborone, Botswana. The positions, a Senior Programme Officer-ICT at Job Grade 4 and an Officer-Research & Statistics at Job Grade 6, form part of a broader organizational capacity enhancement drive to strengthen the Secretariat's ability to deliver on its mandate. The role involves providing technical coordination, policy analysis, and programme management across SADC's regional integration priorities, with responsibilities tailored to the grade level of each post. Grade 4 roles such as the Senior Programme Officer-ICT carry higher complexity and supervisory expectations than Grade 6 roles like the Officer-Research & Statistics.
Minimum qualifications for both positions include a relevant university degree, with professional certifications or specialized training in ICT, data analysis, or project management viewed favourably and potentially differentiating candidates for higher-grade appointments. SADC is a regional economic community comprising 16 member states and serving approximately 340 million people, with a combined GDP of US$720 billion, focused on advancing socioeconomic and political cooperation and regional integration across Southern Africa. The positions are tenable at SADC Headquarters in Gaborone, Botswana, on a full-time basis with a fixed term of four years, renewable twice for another four years each, subject to satisfactory completion of six months' probation, satisfactory performance, and the mandatory retirement age of 60 years. 00 per annum.
Eligibility is restricted to citizens aged 52 or under from 14 designated member states including Tanzania, Botswana, South Africa, Mozambique, Namibia, and Zambia.
