Program Officer

About this role

Hand in Hand Eastern Africa Tanzania (HIHEA TZ) is seeking a Program Officer to provide technical support to projects implemented at the branch level, ensuring delivery of programme objectives in line with donor agreements, budgets and timelines. The role involves spearheading implementation of assigned project aspects, coordinating branch-level operations, and supporting the development of enterprise and livelihoods programming for marginalized communities. Core duties include managing members access to credit and microfinance institution partnerships, monitoring business performance and disbursements, analysing credit risks and advising on mitigation strategies, and building staff capacity through revised training manuals and best practice dissemination. The position also requires coordinating partnerships with government ministries and donor-funded programmes, supporting proposal development, and maintaining stakeholder relationships. Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Community Development, Project Planning and Management, Business Administration, Agricultural Economics, Agri-business Management, Cooperatives Management or Entrepreneurship, and possess at least three years of relevant field experience. Strong analytical skills in peri-urban and rural development, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and excellent communication skills in both English and Kiswahili are essential. HIHEA TZ is an NGO registered in Tanzania since 2018 and a member of the Hand in Hand Global Network, operating across seven regions including Iringa with a mandate to empower women and marginalized communities through sustainable enterprise and job creation.
