The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is recruiting a Senior Project Associate to support the RE2CLID – Resilience and Climate-Induced Displacement Programme in Kigoma, Tanzania. Established in 1951, IOM is a Related Organization of the United Nations and serves as the leading UN agency dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration. The Organization works closely with governmental, intergovernmental, and non-governmental partners to provide services and advice to governments and migrants while fostering an inclusive workplace culture. The RE2CLID Programme supports governments, communities, and partners in the Lake Tanganyika basin to address climate- and disaster-related displacement through integrated approaches that strengthen preparedness and coordination while advancing community-driven recovery, resilience, and longer-term solutions. In Kigoma Region, programme implementation involves sustained engagement with local authorities, displacement-affected communities, and host communities alongside implementing partners. The Senior Project Associate will support field-level coordination, implementation follow-up, monitoring, reporting, and stakeholder engagement for RE2CLID interventions in Kigoma. Key duties include coordinating with local authorities, displacement-affected communities, and host communities to ensure coherent programme delivery. The role requires maintaining inclusive community engagement and conducting timely identification of operational risks and opportunities. Strong field-level coordination and on-the-ground presence are essential prerequisites for success in this position. The incumbent will work under the overall supervision of the Heads of Programme and in direct coordination with the Project Officer (MECC/DRR). A university degree in a relevant field such as international relations, development studies, or migration management is required alongside demonstrated experience in programme coordination, monitoring, and stakeholder engagement at the field level. Fluency in English and Swahili is essential, and strong writing and reporting skills are necessary. Prior experience working with UN agencies or international organizations is an advantage. This is a full-time position based in Kigoma, Tanzania, with regular travel to field locations required.
