Risk and Compliance Officer

VisionFund Tanzania Microfinance Bank (VFT-MFB), a subsidiary of World Vision, is seeking a Risk and Compliance Officer to strengthen its compliance and risk management functions across regional business centers. The role reports directly to the Senior Compliance Officer with administrative oversight from the Regional Manager, and is based in Tanzania. The primary purpose of this position is to establish, implement, and enforce a comprehensive bank-wide Compliance Risk Management Framework covering legal and regulatory compliance as well as Anti-Money Laundering (AML) compliance. The incumbent ensures adherence to the Bank's policies, guidelines, and procedures, and to requirements under the Banking and Financial Institutions Act, Bank of Tanzania Regulations, the Anti Money Laundering Act, and associated directives. Core responsibilities are distributed across four areas: compliance monitoring (40%) involving oversight of VFT and regulatory policy adherence at regional business centers, implementation of compliance monitoring plans, staff training on AML and regulatory matters, and monthly reporting of KYC violations; risk management (40%) encompassing trend analysis of branch operations to detect anomalies, investigation and reporting of fraudulent activities, maintenance of risk registers, and monitoring of operational incidents; physical security representation (10%) including testing of internal controls and security devices, assessment of regional offices for safety gaps, and safety awareness coordination; and training and communication (10%) covering risk, compliance, and AML training for new and existing staff. The ideal candidate holds a university degree in Law, Business Management, Banking, or related disciplines, with experience in banking or financial institution operations and enterprise risk management. Essential qualities include a strong analytical mindset with attention to detail, understanding of money laundering impacts on financial systems, excellent communication and planning skills, and the ability to serve as an effective trainer.
