Regional Technical Officer, TB Services

About this role

FHI 360, a global health and development organisation, is recruiting a Regional Technical Officer for Tuberculosis services in Njombe, Tanzania, under the EpiC Project. The role provides technical expertise to scale up TB prevention, screening, diagnosis and treatment, with emphasis on integrating TB and HIV services across Police and Prison health facilities and strengthening detection and treatment completion in public facilities. The post-holder supports regional teams, health facilities and community platforms in planning, implementing and monitoring TB interventions, ensuring that screening, active case finding, treatment, TB preventive treatment, TB/HIV collaborative services and drug-resistant TB management follow national guidelines. Mentorship, coaching, supportive supervision, on-the-job training and clinical case reviews build health worker capacity.

The officer reviews data on screening, case notification, treatment initiation, TPT and outcomes to identify gaps and guide corrective action, and ensures accurate documentation and reporting through routine and digital health systems. Candidates must hold a medical or nursing degree and have at least four years of progressive experience in TB and TB/HIV programming, preferably within donor-funded public health programmes. Demonstrated experience providing technical assistance and capacity strengthening to government health authorities, RHMTs and CHMTs, facility teams and implementing partners is required, plus the ability to interpret TB programme data and mentor junior staff. A master's degree in public health is an added advantage, and fluency in English and Kiswahili is expected.

The officer reports to the Regional Senior Technical Officer for Clinical Services and works with the Ministry of Health, Police Medical Unit, Prisons Health unit and council health teams. This is a full-time position with 10 to 25 percent domestic travel to councils and health facility sites. The expected annual basic salary is TZS 52,000,000 to 65,000,000.
