National Coordinator, Joint Programme RWEE

WFP

About this role

WFP is seeking a National Coordinator to lead and manage the Joint Programme 'Accelerating Progress towards Rural Women's Economic Empowerment' (JP RWEE) in Tanzania. This five-year initiative is implemented through a partnership among FAO, IFAD, UN Women, and WFP, with WFP serving as the lead agency. The programme aims to secure livelihoods, rights, and resilience for rural women aligned with Agenda 2030, targeting four outcomes: improved food security and nutrition, increased incomes, enhanced voice and agency, and a gender-responsive policy environment. The National Coordinator will oversee coordination mechanisms, programme management, monitoring and reporting, and stakeholder engagement across the four participating agencies, implementing partners, and government counterparts.

Core responsibilities include leading monthly Technical Working Group meetings, organizing National Steering Committee sessions, facilitating biannual coordination platforms among participating agencies, and coordinating multi-stakeholder forums. The role requires ensuring timely programme startup, overseeing annual workplan and budget development, leading joint field visits, monitoring programme expenditure against approved plans, and guaranteeing that performance indicators and milestones are achieved. The National Coordinator will also lead quarterly review processes and annual review workshops with participating agencies and implementing partners, oversee the M&E system alongside the MEAL Coordinator, and ensure a complaints response mechanism is operational. The ideal candidate will have experience in programme coordination, stakeholder management, and UN agency operations.

WFP is the world's largest humanitarian organization and a 2020 Nobel Peace Prize laureate, offering a highly inclusive and diverse working environment with professional development programmes and internal mobility opportunities. The position is based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, on a full-time contract. Applications close on 17 June 2026.
