The Nutrition Officer position is based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, within the Child Nutrition and Development Section of the Country Programme. The role provides professional technical, operational, and administrative assistance throughout the programming process for nutrition programmes, from development planning through to delivery of results. Key responsibilities include supporting programme development and planning, programme management, monitoring and delivery of results, technical and operational support to programme implementation, networking and partnership building, and innovation, knowledge management and capacity building. The work contributes to nutrition service delivery outputs particularly in the areas of prevention and management of severe wasting, vitamin A supplementation, nutrition supply chain management, community and school nutrition services, and nutrition in emergencies. To qualify, candidates must hold a Bachelor or equivalent (First Level University Degree) in nutrition, public health, nutritional epidemiology, global or international health and nutrition, health or nutrition research, policy and or management, health sciences, or another health-related science field. A minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in a developing country in nutrition, public health, nutrition planning and management, or maternal, infant and child health or nutrition care is required. Public health, programme management, monitoring, evaluation and nutrition planning skills are essential, and fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language or Swahili is considered an asset, as is experience in health or nutrition programme or project development in a UN system agency.
