National Consultant, Nutrition Investment Case

UNICEF

About this role

UNICEF is recruiting a national consultant to support the finalization and dissemination of Tanzania's Nutrition Investment Case on Overweight and Obesity, alongside the Nutrition Investment on Undernutrition. The assignment sits within UNICEF's nutrition work in Tanzania and is aimed at strengthening understanding of the health and economic benefits of investing in overweight and obesity prevention, and at informing evidence-based policy dialogue, prioritization and resource mobilization for healthier food environments. The consultant will review and incorporate stakeholder feedback and agreed revisions into the final report, and will adjust the existing policy briefs and presentations so that they align with the finalized analysis, findings and recommendations. The work also involves preparing dissemination materials and presenting findings to relevant stakeholders through technical discussions and policy dialogue.

The post-holder will respond to technical questions arising during dissemination and will document key recommendations and follow-up actions. Throughout, the consultant must ensure that all products consistently reflect the finalized findings and communicate clear messages for policy and investment decisions. The overall objective is to ensure the findings are clear, robust and relevant to national policy priorities. Minimum requirements include an advanced university degree at masters level in health, nutrition, monitoring and evaluation, or a related field.

Completed or current enrolment in a relevant PhD programme is an asset. Candidates should have at least three years of experience developing creative, high-quality communication and advocacy materials across print and digital formats, preferably for UN agencies, NGOs or international organisations, and at least five years of relevant experience in nutrition or public health research, economic analysis or evidence-based policy development, including work on overweight, obesity or noncommunicable disease prevention. Fluency in English and Kiswahili is required. Involvement in the development and validation of Tanzania's Nutrition Investment Case, demonstrated ability to interpret economic modelling findings, and proven experience presenting technical findings to government and development partners are essential.
