Mining Business Development Advisor
About this role
Cuso International is seeking a Business Development Advisor for a five-month volunteer placement based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, with a start date of August 2026. The placement falls under the Sharing Canadian Expertise for Inclusive Development and Gender Equality (SHARE) Project, implemented in partnership with the Tanzania Women Chamber of Commerce (TWCC) and active across Mwanza and Geita regions. The advisor will play a pivotal role in strengthening women's participation in the mining value chain and improving value addition in agriculture and food processing. Core responsibilities include carrying out needs assessments for women entrepreneurs engaged in mining-related activities, discovering investment opportunities and assisting women in achieving investment readiness, and providing targeted training on business development, financial management, and investment preparation.
The advisor will also support women in enhancing product quality, packaging, and compliance with standards, and in forging sustainable linkages with major mining companies. Essential qualifications include a bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Economics, Development Studies, or a related discipline, along with excellent facilitation and training abilities, proficiency in business advisory and investment readiness, strong stakeholder engagement skills, and experience working with diverse groups including women entrepreneurs in informal sectors. The SHARE Project specifically aims to build the capacity of women entrepreneurs and create impactful linkages between women-led enterprises and leading mining companies. The placement includes a comprehensive volunteer support package consisting of a monthly living allowance, shared or individual accommodation, health insurance covering vaccinations and antimalarial medication, round-trip airfare, and visa or work permit costs. Pre-placement, in-country, and reintegration training are provided along with access to self-directed materials and online resources.
