Implementation Area Manager

Plan International is an independent development and humanitarian organisation that advances children\u2019s rights and equality for girls, operating in more than 80 countries for over 85 years. The Programme Implementation Area Manager (PIAM) is a senior leadership role responsible for leading, coordinating, and overseeing the delivery of Plan International Tanzania\u2019s programmes and operations in the Geita Programme Implementation Area, ensuring project objectives are achieved and resources are optimised. The PIAM manages multi-functional teams implementing multi-sectoral interventions spanning protection, education, early childhood development, health, nutrition, WASH, livelihoods, sexual and reproductive health rights, and humanitarian response. Core responsibilities include ensuring quality programme delivery, operational efficiency, staff wellbeing, risk management, safeguarding compliance, and strong partnerships with local government, civil society, and communities. The role reports to the Head of Program Delivery and sits within the Extended Country Management Team, representing Plan International on regional and zonal forums and supervising multiple direct reports. The PIAM holds accountability for multi-million-dollar budget portfolios, donor compliance, and emergency preparedness and response in the area. The role requires a Master\u2019s degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, International Relations, Gender Studies, or a similar field, with at least 10 years of work experience including 5 years in leadership. Candidates must have demonstrated experience managing multi-sectoral projects, large teams, and multi-million-dollar budgets, as well as proven experience with donor-funded projects from FCDO, USAID, EU, or GAC. A solid understanding of child rights, gender equality, youth development, social inclusion, community development, and rights-based programming is essential. Preferred qualifications include experience in Plan International\u2019s areas of global distinctness such as Inclusive Quality Education, Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights, Early Childhood Development, Protection from Violence, and Youth Economic Empowerment, along with knowledge of the national and regional context affecting children and girls. The position is full-time, based in Geita, Tanzania.
