HR Support Volunteer, UN Women Tanzania

UN Women

About this role

The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme is placing online volunteers to support the human resources function of UN Women Tanzania. UN Women is the UN entity dedicated to gender equality and the empowerment of women, mandated to lead and coordinate UN system efforts on gender equality commitments and to support Member States in advancing women's rights. In Tanzania, UN Women operates under its Strategic Plan 2022-2026, focusing on women's leadership and participation in governance, gender statistics, global gender norms, ending violence against women and girls, and women's economic empowerment in line with national priorities. The online volunteers will update and convert existing HR documents from legacy templates to new e-filing standardized formats, ensuring confidentiality, consistency, accuracy, and alignment with current organizational standards. They will maintain HR-related data and databases in full compliance with UN Women rules, regulations, and HR policies, handling records in a confidential and secure manner. Each volunteer will be assigned a set volume of documents to complete according to an agreed schedule and must attend an induction session on expected outputs. Volunteers will be required to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement before accessing sensitive materials. The assignment offers hands-on experience in document formatting, confidential records management, and HR administrative processes within an international development organisation. Candidates must hold a university degree in human resources management, sociology, business administration, public administration, or a related field and possess one to three years of professional experience. Proficiency in MS Office, spreadsheet, and database packages is required. Desirable qualifications include prior experience in UN system HR administration and proficiency in modern ERP systems, preferably Oracle Cloud or Quantum. Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to work effectively in a multicultural team, and discretion in handling confidential information are essential. Applications are being received through the UN Volunteers platform.
