BRAC International is seeking an experienced Head of Procurement to lead the procurement function for its BRAC Maendeleo Tanzania (BMT) country programme based in Dar es Salaam. This senior management role is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the country programme's procurement operations, ensuring efficient and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services that support programmatic implementation while adhering to organisational policies, ethical standards, and relevant regulations. The Head of Procurement will develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with organisational goals, manage the procurement department's budget, and lead teams in preparing periodic procurement plans. The role involves overseeing vendor selection, contract management, and negotiations while implementing procurement best practices to ensure transparency and accountability. The incumbent will directly handle complex, high-value procurement projects, identify and mitigate procurement-related risks including financial, operational, reputational, and compliance risks, and establish key performance indicators to monitor department efficiency. Cross-functional collaboration with other department heads and country leadership is essential to align procurement activities with programme objectives. Candidates must hold a bachelor's degree in Procurement or Supply Chain Management, with a master's degree being desirable. Professional certifications such as CPP, ISM, or CIPS are advantageous. A minimum of six years at managerial level in procurement management within a reputable organisation, preferably an international NGO, is required. Strong analytical abilities, proficiency in automated procurement solutions, knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements, and excellent communication skills are essential. The position is contractual and based in Dar es Salaam. Salary is negotiable.
