General Manager

Our Client, a leading pharmaceutical manufacturing organisation in Tanzania, has retained KPMG East Africa to recruit a General Manager. This executive role provides strategic and operational oversight of the organisation's pharmaceutical manufacturing entities and affiliated operations, sitting on the Executive Management team and reporting directly to the Board of Directors. Core responsibilities include setting the long-term strategic vision and leading the development and execution of corporate and business strategies in alignment with national health priorities and competitive market positioning. The role holder drives business development by identifying, evaluating, and executing new investment and partnership opportunities within the healthcare manufacturing sector, developing business cases and securing funding. Operational oversight encompasses establishing performance metrics, governance frameworks, and leading the senior leadership team to ensure consistent delivery across all business units. The position also requires ensuring full compliance with pharmaceutical regulations, GMP standards, and industry best practices, while building and managing relationships with government regulators, investors, and development partners. Preferred qualifications include an MBA or advanced degree in business, pharmaceutical sciences, or a related field, along with extensive executive leadership experience in manufacturing or regulated industries and deep knowledge of Tanzania's healthcare and regulatory environment.
