About this role
Ubongo, Africa's leading producer of children's edutainment and a non-profit social enterprise, is recruiting a Francophone Africa Expansion Lead to drive strategic expansion of its programmes and products across assigned countries in Francophone Africa. Reporting to the Market Expansion Lead, the post-holder is based in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, travels significantly in-country, and works largely remotely through Slack, Asana and Google Workspace. The role centres on strategy and business development. They track progress against performance metrics and adapt accordingly. Partnership development is central: identifying, approaching and negotiating agreements with broadcasters, digital platforms, radio networks, government entities, NGOs and community organisations to distribute content, maintaining long-term relationships, coordinating in-classroom school projects, and representing Ubongo at industry events. The lead also works with marketing colleagues on regional campaigns, activations and brand-building, collaborates with content, education, research and digital teams, and reports on reach and impact with monitoring and evaluation colleagues. Administrative duties cover budgeting for Francophone markets, procurement, expenditure reconciliation and financial reporting.
Candidates must hold a bachelor's degree and have at least seven years of related experience in media and broadcasting sales, marketing and communications, or business development. Written and oral proficiency in English and the region's major languages is required, along with a sound grasp of the regional media and education ecosystem, persuasive communication, initiative, independent working, problem solving, planning, adaptability, budgeting, computer literacy and comfort with remote collaboration. Desirable attributes include networking ability, leadership, cultural adaptability, conflict management, emotional intelligence and a passion for children. The deadline for applications is 30 October 2026, and only online submissions through Ubongo's portal will be considered.
