Field Extension Officer

World Vision

About this role

World Vision, a Christian humanitarian organisation with 75 years of experience, is seeking a Field Extension Officer to support project implementation in Tanzania. With 31,000 staff working across nearly 100 countries, World Vision serves the most vulnerable children and communities, and this role sits within a livelihood and food security programme implemented in partnership with WFP and government stakeholders at the district and local government authority level. The Field Extension Officer will lead direct project implementation across assigned locations within a District Council, working with vulnerable and needy households to improve food security, build resilience, and create employment opportunities. The role involves promoting social cohesion between refugees and host communities through peace-building activities and enhancing gender equality and protection for project beneficiaries. The officer will manage project budgets and resources in collaboration with finance staff, ensuring compliance with World Vision and donor financial standards and supporting both internal and external auditing processes. Monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning activities constitute a significant portion of the role, including adapting the project theory of change, implementing impact measurement systems, collecting baseline and periodic performance data, and preparing quality progress reports. The officer will also facilitate reflective learning forums and documentation of best practices. Networking, visibility, and donor recognition duties require maintaining relationships with local government actors, consortium members, and public institutions, as well as representing the project at relevant forums and events. Candidates must hold a university degree in Agricultural Economics, Agriculture, Rural Development, Community Development, or a related field, with at least two years of experience in agriculture or rural development project implementation. Experience with international NGOs, WFP, or other UN agencies is an added advantage, as is prior work in refugee and host community contexts. Proficiency in report writing, facilitation, and advocacy, along with fluency in English and Swahili, are required. This position is open to local applicants only, and the closing date for applications is 25 May 2025.
