About this role
The UN Resident Coordinator's Office in Tanzania is recruiting a Development Partners Group Associate Officer as a United Nations Volunteers assignment. The post sits within the Development Partners Group Secretariat, which the RCO hosts, and reports directly to the UN Resident Coordinator. The Secretariat coordinates Development Partner policy priorities and supports implementation of the 2017 Development Cooperation Framework. The day-to-day work spans five areas.
The officer prepares briefing notes, presentations, reports and background materials for DPG activities and compiles information supporting DPG engagement with the Government under the Development Cooperation Framework. They help organise DPG meetings, working group sessions and policy dialogues, including agendas, minutes and follow-up actions, and contribute briefs on national priorities such as Vision 2050. The role supports the Joint DPG-Government Secretariat in its work with the Ministry of Finance on mutual accountability and policy coherence, including coordination with counterparts in Zanzibar, and gathers information on development financing and emerging partnerships. Further duties cover annual workplan planning, programme updates, analytical inputs on UN engagement, alignment between the UNSDCF and Tanzania's development priorities, and knowledge management, including documenting good practices and knowledge products.
Candidates should demonstrate interest or experience in economics or related fields, development activities and coordination support, and working with government institutions and development partners. Basic exposure to UN development activities is expected, along with teamwork, organisational and coordination skills, basic report-writing ability, proficiency in ICT tools, and a basic knowledge of blended financing. Preferred attributes include prior volunteer experience or experience of another culture gained through studies, volunteer work or an internship. During the first month the volunteer and supervisor finalise a work plan covering objectives, activities and regular progress check-ins.
The RCO coordinates a UN Country Team of 23 agencies. No salary or benefits are stated and no deadline is given; applications go through the UN Volunteers platform.
